About Robert Wyatt
Robert’s documentary eye sees joy in unexpected juxtapositions and brings colour and energy to his editorial and commercial images. His work is informed by a knowledge of the traditions of street photography and a respect for the craft of image-making. Robert often involves bystanders and unstaged events in his images, lending them a loose filmic and narrative quality.
Robert Wyatt was born in Bristol and graduated with a BA in Photography at West Surrey College of Art in Farnham (now University of the Creative Arts). Robert is one of only two photographers whose work was included in the 1994 New Contemporaries exhibition in London. Following several successful years as a documentary photographer and gallery artist, his inclusion by curators Val Williams and Brett Rogers in Look at Me: Fashion and Photography in Great Britain 1960–1998 (Kunsthal, Rotterdam, 1998 and tour) marked a new direction.
Having had a successful career as a fashion photographer for many years working for the likes of Prada and Valentino he has decided to return to his roots and concentrate on lifestyle and documentary photography now working for the likes of Jocks & Nerds magazine,Boat Magazine and Rouleur and Rapha’s new magazine, Mondial.
Robert’s client list includes Patek Philippe, Valentino, Lanvin, Paul Smith, Equinox, Vilebrequin, Kilgour, Prada, Ferrari, Sofitel, Harvey Nichols, British Airways, Sony, Nintendo, Harrods, Canterbury, Clarks, Movel. His work has been seen in ‘British Vogue’, 10 Magazine, i-D, Jocks and Nerds, Rouleur Magazine, Boat Magazine, ESPN magazine, New York Times, Sunday Times Style, Numéro, GQ Style, Flair and Muse.
